Have You Heard of 'The Coffee Cup Test' During Job Interviews?

Recently, an executive revealed a strategy he used during the interview process to quickly screen his candidates. The strategy has some mixed-reviews by social media users.

An Offer You Can't Refuse

“I will always take you for a walk down to one of our kitchens and somehow you always end up walking away with a drink,” Former managing director for Xero Australia Trent Innes said in a resurfaced 2019 interview with the podcast “The Ventures”.

“Then we take the drink back, have our interview, and one of the things I’m always looking for at the end of the interview is, does the person doing the interview want to take that empty cup back to the kitchen?"

The former boss only hires people if they offer to take their coffee cups to the kitchen at the end of an interview.

His strategy has gained a lot of popularity, and some mixed reviews.

In the Business Insider, "The boss actually said he actively manipulates potential hires into taking a drink, all so he can play his deeply disturbing psycho-social game."
